Research interest
Characterisation of biomarkers for toxin presence and activity by proteomic and biochemical analysis. Xenobiotics metabolism and toxicokinetics including determination of biotransformation pathways, inhibition and interaction studies, and prediction of human exposure. Risk assessment regarding human exposure by toxin-contaminated food and novel food proteins. Identification of food allergens and elucidation of allergenic potentials using immunochemical and spectrometric methods. Contact for the Norwegian National Register and Reporting System of Severe Allergic Reactions to Food. Member of the Norwegian Committee for Food Safety (panel on contaminants), CEN (TC275 WG12 Food Allergens), AOAC (Food Allergen Community), ILSI (Expert group verifying methods for food allergens reference doses) and COST Action ImpARAS (Improving allergy risk assessment strategy for new food proteins).
Studies in chemistry and biochemistry at the Technical University Hanover/Germany (TUH) and the Medical School Hanover/Germany. Master in pharmacology and biochemistry. Doctoral studies at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plant Breeding in Cologne/Germany and degree from the TUH in plant molecular biology. Laboratory leader in preclinical pharmacokinetics at Bayer Healthcare AG in Wuppertal/Germany. Senior scientist at the Norwegian Veterinary Institute since 2002.
